Three students from Kane School District, two from Kanab High School and one from Valley High School, were runner-up in the Sterling Scholar competition. KHS student Lexie Dalton was runner-up in Social Science and Cade Szymanski was runner-up in Music. VHS student Kacie Ray Cox was runner up in Business and Marketing.

There were 197 students from 19 schools competing in 15 categories in the Sterling Scholar competition. The event was supposed to happen on April 2, at the Dixie State University campus, but with the nationwide shutdown over the coronavirus, students were judged via video conferencing. There was one winner and two runners-up in each category.

Since they could not have the live awards and banquet, a video was created to view –

Desert Hills High School had three winners and five runners-up. SUCCESS Academy, a charter high school in St. George and Cedar City, had three winners and two runners-up. Cedar High School had two winners and three runners-up, while Pine View and Snow Canyon each had two winners and two runners-up.

Dixie High School had one winner and four runners-up, while Hurricane had one winner and one runner-up. Milford had one winner. Canyon View had four runners-up and Enterprise had two, while Beaver and Panguitch each had one runner-up.
