Five Cowboys play in basketball all-star games
For the first time since they’ve been playing these basketball all-star games, four Kanab Cowboy basketball players – Nathaniel Houston, Sam Orton, Cade Szymanski Clay Shakespear, as well as Lady Cowboy Brinley Cornell – were invited to play in two all-star games at South Sevier High School last Saturday.
The 2A boys team beat the 1A all-stars in a close game, 86-82, on Saturday at 2 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. the 2A squad took on the 3A all stars, but lost 101-85.
Nathaniel Houston was the tournament MVP. He had 42 points in the 3A game, including 12 three-pointers. He tied the record for most threes in the game. Sam Orton won the slam-dunk contest.
Houston and Orton also played a baseball game in St. George at 10 a.m. that morning. They played the 1A basketball game at 2 p.m. and faced the 3A squad at 7 p.m.
The 2A girls team won over the 1A squad 64-54, then lost to the 3A team 68-60. As you can see, all the games were competitive.
