Tim O''Brien and Jan Fabricius, an Americana-Bluegrass event
Tim O’Brien and Jan Fabricius, an Americana-Bluegrass duo, will be performing a concert at the Kanab High School Auditorium at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 4.
This concert is one in a series of events starting in Kanab, with two other performances with ZArts of Springdale on March 5, and Kayenta Arts Board of Ivins on March 6. An afternoon school outreach program will also be offered in all three communities.
Tim O’Brien, a Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, performs in a duet setting with his partner Jan Fabricius on harmony vocals. Featuring his solid guitar, fiddle and mandolin, his shows cover a range of original compositions and traditional arrangements mixed with stories and Tim’s self-deprecating humor.
Notable O’Brien recordings like the bluegrass Dylan covers of “Red On Blonde” and the Celtic-Appalachian fusion of “The Crossing” led to Grammy winning CDs Fiddler’s Green (2005) and The Earls of Leicester (2014). O’Brien’s 2017 album Where the River Meets the Road paid tribute to the music of his native West Virginia. His March 2019 release, Tim O’Brien Band, features well known players Mike Bub (bass), Shad Cobb (fiddle), Patrick Sauber (banjo/guitar) and Jan Fabricius (vocal).
Shaping O’Brien’s Blues, Jazz and Celtic influences within a string band setting, they transform five originals and eight well-chosen covers into his own unique brand of bluegrass.
This event is sponsored by the Kanab Arts Board, with support from the Utah Arts and Museums, WestAF TourWest grants and Kane County Office of Tourism.
Tickets are $20 for adults (under 18 are free) and can be purchased at Honey’s Marketplace, Glaziers or online at Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tim-obrien-jan-fabricius-tickets -90102688567?aff=ebdssbdestsearch).
