The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR) recently stocked 1,600 rainbow and brooke trout in Jackson Flat Reservoir in Kanab, Utah.

The majority of the fish were brooke trout, and each fish averaged two pounds in weight.

The UDWR searched for a body of water in southern Utah that was not fully iced over, which could provide access to the shoreline for stocking purposes.

The water temperature at Jackson Flat Reservoir was measured at 40 degrees, which is acceptable for stocking trout that do better in cooler temperatures.

The public is welcome to fish at Jackson Flat Reservoir; however, please abide by all Utah State fishing rules and regulations.
