Nathan Bowman led the Cowboys to a second place team finish last Wednesday at the Region 18 cross country championships held at the Thunderbird Golf Course in Mt. Carmel Junction.

Bowman, a junior for the Cowboys, remains undefeated in his 2019 season and has only one meet left for the year. He and the rest of the Cowboy team will compete at the State Championships on Wednesday, October 23 at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City.

Cowboy individual finishes as follows:

• Nathan Bowman – first

• Jake Church – seventh

• Clay Shakespear – 10th

• Justin Reidhead – 20th

• Zalan Foldes – 24th

• Daxton Jones – 29th

• Jackson Clark – 33rd

• Logan Little – 37th

The Millard boys team took home the trophy, with the Cowboys coming in second, and Parowan snagging the last seat to state with a third place finish.

While his team did not come in first, Coach Levi LeFevre is very happy with how his teams finished.

“Nathan Bowman ran a fantastic race as did Jake Church. I am very happy with how everyone competed and look forward to watching this team compete at state.”

The Lady Cowboys ended up just missing a team qualification for state by coming in fourth overall. That didn’t stop freshmen Cydnee Castagno and Eryn Wayne from sneaking in and punching individual tickets to the State Championships though.

The two girls will get to represent the Cowboys on an individual basis, along with the boys team. Castagno came in 17th, with Wayne hot on her heels at 19th.

The Millard girls team also snagged the championship trophy, with the top three teams being rounded out by Parowan and Beaver respectively.

Coach LeFevre had this to say about his girls team, “Im very happy with how my team ran, especially being as young as they are. My top three runners are all freshmen! They showed a lot of promise and grit today and I can’t wait to see where that takes them and us as a team in the future.”

Cowboy Cross Country would like to thank Thunderbird Golf Course for allowing them to host their meets there for the season! “We really appreciate all that they do for us and their support,” said LeFevre.

Good luck to the entire Cowboy team, as well as Cydnee and Eryn, at State! Go Cowboys! All region and state results can be found online at
