Best Friends Fitness Center makes improvements
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has owned the Fitness Center, located at 163 South 100 East in Kanab, for the past four years. Manager Jason Zurek began working there as manager when Best Friends took over in April/May of 2015.
“To my knowledge, they decided to purchase it to keep it open for the community,” said Zurek. “We want to stress that this facility is for everyone and open to the public.”
In fact, they are changing the Fitness Center’s name with new signage to better focus on that intent. They have made some recent improvements and updated much of the equipment, as well.
There are new cardio machines and the strength circuit is only two years old. The always-popular Spin Room has nine new bikes! With many morning classes available Monday-Friday from 8-10 a.m., with babysitting available, no one has much of an excuse not to get started.
“We have about 30 classes of different exercise levels a week,” said Zurek. “The instructors focus on the ability levels of each class.”
And people are coming to get fit!
“We have roughly 350 members,” said Zurek. “We average about 80 members a day.”
Membership rates are reasonable, $37 a month for an individual membership, with senior rates only $32. Check with the front desk to inquire about business or corporate rates (must be at least two). Memberships include use of everything in the gym. Day passes are available for $8 a day, or $18 for the week.
Personal training sessions by Josue Rivera are available for a fee.
“Our environment is friendly here,” said Zurek. “No one is trying to intimidate or embarrass you. Our staff and all our teachers are very warm and friendly. They will help you with any questions.”
