The Kanab City Council unanimously approved the sale of water to Southern Red Sands, LLC at Tuesday’s City Council meeting held in front of a large, packed audience at the Kanab City Library. All council members were in attendance.

The July 9 meeting went on for four hours, with one of those hours dedicated to presentations by Chad Staheli, CEO of Southern Red Sands, Tom Avant, and a very brief presentation from Hugh Hurlow, a hydrologist from Utah Geological Survey.

This was followed by almost two hours of public comment, which was highlighted by an altercation between Mike Noel and Will James over who would be the last to comment. Both were escorted out of the room by attending law enforcement.

Full report of the meeting to follow in next week’s paper.
