Kanab City, as well as other small towns in Utah, will hold a Municipal Election this fall to elect city council or town board members.

Kanab City has three city council positions with a four year term from January 2020 to January 2024, and one city council position with a two year term from January 2020 to January 2022.

If there are a sufficient number of candidates, a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. The Municipal General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Qualifications to be a candidate:

1. Be a U.S. citizen at the time of filing.

2. Be a registered voter of the municipality.

3. Be a resident of the municipality for a period of 365 consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election.

4. Not be a convicted felon, unless your right to hold elective office has been restored.  

Qualified persons are to file a declaration of candidacy, in person with the city or town recorder or manager, during the office hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The candidate filing period begins June 3 and ends June 7, 2019. Candidates may file remotely or through a designated agent if the individual is located outside of the state during the entire filing period.
