This year brings a new High School Career Day and Community Job Fair to Kanab. This event will connect area job seekers to employers in one location. The new regional Job Fair will be centrally located in Kanab, at Kanab High School, and will focus teens and adults on gaining and retaining employment.

The Job Fair to be held on Thursday, April 4 from 3-6 p.m. in the KHS gym is sponsored by the Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce, Kane County School District, Fredonia Public Library, Kane Adult Ed, Southern Utah University - Education Talent Search, Utah Department of Workforce Services, Kanab City and Kane County.

Chamber President Colette Cox expressed, “We are extremely happy to bring area employers and potential employees to one central location. This makes matching the perfect employee to their ideal job much simpler for both businesses and applicants.”

Employers will first meet with over 400 teen applicants from all three area high schools, Kanab, Valley and Fredonia from 2:15 p.m.-3 p.m. Adult job seekers will be invited to participate from 3 p.m.-6 p.m.

“Job applicants should be prepared with their resumes and be dressed to interview on the spot with employers,” explained Utah Department of Workforce Services Employment Counselor Kasey Ramsay. Adults have the opportunity to showcase their skills, help them gain employment and climb the career ladder.

In addition to the opportunity to apply for employment, teens will participate in mini workshops focused on career exploration and learning how to be an excellent employee. Student will learn about careers in the following industries: automotive repair, education, architect design, truck driving, culinary arts, aviation, medical, graphic design, hospitality, cosmetology and much more. Each student will walk away with career knowledge and materials to make them more employable.

It is not too late for employers to reserve a booth at this important event. Reservations for Job Fair booths will be taken through March 29. For questions or booth reservations, please contact the planning committee at or Colette Cox at 435-899-1860.
