Going Gig for local schools: South Central Communications partners with customers to donate $1,300 to Fredonia schools
The South Central Communications (SCC) “Go Gig for Schools” Tour recently awarded a $1,300 donation to Fredonia schools. This SCC 1 Gig promotion is benefiting over 30 schools across all of SCC’s coverage area and these donations were only made possible by charitable SCC customers.
SCC began developing their fiber optic network and delivering 1 Gig Internet speeds to Fredonia in 2017. Fiber is capable of Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Internet speeds and SCC offers this Gig Internet service at the same price as their previous 50 Mbps service!
This past fall, SCC introduced a new promotion to customers upgrading to ultra-fast 1 Gig Internet, where they had the opportunity to designate a $100 donation to the local K-12 school of their choice. Many generous SCC customers chose to “pay it forward” and support our local schools.
CEO Michael East summed up SCC’s inspirations for the program, “South Central Communications is committed to providing a superior service to all of our communities and being able to partner with local customers to benefit our children is icing on the cake.”
The “Go Gig for Schools” promotion raised over $30,000 across all of SCC’s coverage area, of which SCC is proud to say $1,300 was distributed between Fredonia Elementary and Fredonia High School.
According to Fredonia Elementary School Principal and Fredonia Moccasin Unified Superintendent Howard Hughes, “Our Music Program is in need of new musical instruments and this contribution will help tremendously. It’s a true blessing for our schools and students!”
Brett Waite, Principal of Fredonia High School, is happy to report the contribution will help support their move to a one-to-one computer access for all students. “South Central has always been supportive of education, and this program is just another example of how they continue to show community support,” said Principal Waite.
Given the overwhelming success of the “Go Gig for Schools” promotion and the harmony with SCC’s mission of improving their communities, you can expect to see SCC run this promotion again in 2019. They look forward to expanding the fiber optic network and 1 Gig offering in the coming year and are excited about the opportunity to offer this promotion to even more communities this upcoming school year.
