Kanab High School has a girl’s basketball team that we all can be proud of. They’re outstanding athletes and fantastic students. They always play with a lot of energy and great attitudes. They’re the most competitive group of girls I’ve had the privilege to coach. They’ve played basketball together for several years.

They’ve been supported by their families and great community members, who took the time to start coaching them up when they were young. The result of all that time spent in the gym with their family and friends is paying off. Representing the high school, they’ve made two straight trips to the semi-finals in state basketball.

This year, their goal is to win it all. The team motto chosen by their seniors reflect this goal – “Unfinished Business.”

Assistant coaches Clayton Cutler, Ted Barnard and Kaitlin Glover have all noted how the girls, despite their 5-1 record this year, are not satisfied. Win or lose (mostly win), coaches are impressed that the girls are always finding ways to improve together and show an eager willingness to learn new things to take them to their goals.

Apart from being a great basketball team, each one of these girls is a dedicated student. This team’s cumulative GPA is 3.837. That is tremendous. In the personal and team goals they’ve set this year, their attention to academics is still a priority. And in trying to make the team better, each player is striving to become a better person as well.

If you haven’t had the chance to see your girl’s high school basketball team play, please come and watch. They play the game the right way, they have fun and they win!
