KHS work experience
Students at Kanab High School have the opportunity to gain valuable, real life work experience, thanks to several local businesses that welcomingly provide the opportunity and experience to these students.
Students participating in this unique work experience program travel off campus with a school staff member and perform a variety of tasks alongside business employees at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Glazier’s Family Market, Kane County Hospital Thrift Store and Best Friends Fitness Center.
This year, students spend time twice a week at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, where they feed and clean up after the bunnies and the puppies. They also perform other tasks such as washing laundry and general cleaning duties in various areas of the Sanctuary.
Glazier’s Family Market offers students the opportunity to assist with receiving freight once a week.
At the Kane County Hospital Thrift Store, students pick up donated clothes and take them back to the high school to wash, dry and fold. It is then returned to the Thrift Store to be set out as merchandise for sale. Students also assist in sorting general donations and learn to follow directions by employers.
And last, but certainly not least, the Best Friends Fitness Center offers students the opportunity to assist with machine cleaning and various other tasks necessary to keeping the fitness center clean and inviting.
Kanab High School would like to thank and recognize these local businesses, both current and past, that willingly invite our students in and help them to gain these valuable life experiences during their time in high school. If you would like to extend work experience opportunities through your business, please contact Kanab High School.
