Annual Christmas Light Parade and Lantern Launch will light up the night
The ninth annual Kanab Christmas Light Parade & Festival is November 25, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, with festivities and fun for the whole family taking place at the Main Street Plaza in the charming southern Utah town of Kanab.
The Parade of Lights is a magical display lighting up the night with floats made by businesses and people in the community. Come enjoy the parade or be a part of the parade by making your own float! The theme this year is “Remember When...” The floats will use this theme to reminisce about wonderful holiday memories.
If you would like to register a float for the Parade of Lights, contact the Volunteer Center at (435) 644-3696, e-mail email@example.com, or register the night of the parade. The parade line-up is at 6:30 p.m. at the Kane County Office of Tourism. The parade will begin at 7 p.m.
There will be entertainment and festivities on Main Street following the parade. The Kanab Chamber of Commerce will provide free hot chocolate and donuts for everyone to enjoy. The whole family can also take pictures with one of the Star Wars characters hanging out on Main Street after the parade.
At 7:30 p.m. there will be a free S’mores School by Chef Shon on Main Street. Enjoy making a variety of specialty gooey and delicious S’mores with one of Kanab’s greatest chefs while enjoying good times with the people of the community.
The festival will culminate with the magical Wishing Lantern Launch at 8:30 p.m. in front of the courthouse. The Wishing Lantern Launch is a fundraising event sponsored by the Events & Volunteer Center. Each lantern costs $10 or two for $15 and all proceeds will go to Sub for Santa to help provide Christmas to families in need.
