Come to the annual Kanab Balloons & Tunes Roundup during President’s Day weekend, February 17-19. See bright, beautiful hot air balloons against the red rock of Kanab, and rock out to the music from the Battle of the Bands!

The hot air balloons will launch each morning just after sunrise (weather permitting) at 7:30 a.m. The colorful balloons will fly with a beautiful backdrop of the vermilion cliffs located near the scenic Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, with the added beauty of early morning light. The balloons can be seen from all over Kanab.

Balloon rides are not available for purchase. The pilots fly as showmen. Rides are offered to the sponsors of the event, the media, and volunteer crew members (weather permitting). The best way to get a ride is to become a sponsor! You can also ride in a balloon if you are able to be a balloon crew member for all three flights on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. To become a crew member volunteer, sign up at the Event/Volunteer Center, (435) 644-3696. 

After enjoying the balloons, check out the tunes at the Battle of the Bands on Friday and Saturday, on North Main Street. Watch the bands compete on the outdoor stage for free all day. Purchase a Balloons and Tunes T-shirt for the opportunity to cast your vote for your favorite band! The top three bands will receive prize money to be awarded Saturday night.

During the Battle of the Bands, visit the Street Fair located on Main Street for a variety of vendors selling food, art and one-of-a-kind crafts. The Street Fair will be on Friday, February 17, 3-9 p.m., and Saturday, February 18, 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

This fun event is held rain or shine! In case of inclement weather, the Street Fair will continue as planned, and the Battle of the Bands will be moved to the Kanab Elementary School gym. Vendor applications are still being accepted. The festivities will continue Saturday night with the crowning of the Battle of the Bands champion at 6 p.m. The top three winners will then perform from 6-9 p.m.

During the performance, check out the Balloon Glow at 7 p.m. The pilots will line Center Street and light up their colorful balloons for all to enjoy.

To finish an amazing evening, there will be a Wishing Lantern Launch on Center Street at 8 p.m. Lanterns will be available for purchase at the Street Fair. Write your wish on it, launch it with a friend, and watch the lanterns fill the night sky.
