This year brings a new Job Fair to our community. The very successful Spring Career Day/Teen Job Fair event, previously held at Fredonia High School, is being updated and expanded. This new event will better serve area employers to find well qualified, customer service-oriented employees. The new regional Job Fair will be centrally located in Kanab, at the Kanab Middle School, and will focus teens and adults on gaining and retaining employment.

The event, to be held on Thursday, April 23, is sponsored by the Utah Department of Workforce Services, Kanab City and Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber President Colette Cox expressed, “We are extremely happy to bring area employers and potential employees to one central location. This makes matching the perfect employee to their ideal job much simpler for both businesses and applicants.”

Employers will first meet with teen applicants from all three-area high schools from 1:30-3 p.m. Adult job seekers will be invited to participate from 3:30-6 p.m.

“Job applicants should be prepared with their resumes and be dressed to interview on the spot with employers,” explained Utah Department of Workforce Services Employment Counselor Kasey Ramsay.

In addition to the opportunity to apply for employment, teens will participate in mini workshops focused on learning how to be an excellent employee. Topics will include: job seeking skills, qualities of an exceptional employee, resume writing, networking, interviewing, writing cover letters and creating a master application. Each student will walk away with knowledge and materials to make them more employable.

Adults have the opportunity to learn skills to help them gain employment and climb the career ladder. Presenters will speak about: customer service; do’s and don’ts at work; labor laws; understanding employment benefits, taxes and healthcare.

It is not too late for employers to reserve a booth at this important event. Reservations will be taken through April 13 for employer booths and presenters. For questions or booth reservations, please contact Colette Cox at or 435-899-1860.
