Tennis thrives in the Valley
Thirty-six moms and kids enjoyed learning and playing tennis during July in the Kane Community Tennis Valley Summer Program. The session ended with an excellent lunch provided by Sheilla and Tiffany from Parry Lodge, and an awards celebration with yummy rootbeer floats and sundae prizes from Don and Mickey Davis from The Rock Stop.
The last week of skill competitions and play showed off the high level of tennis these players have achieved. The Buffaloes, Diamond Back Rattlers, Recers, Sparkles, Sharks, Valley, Diamonds and Lizards were some of the two-player teams that scored many victories.
Although the two tennis courts serving the Valley residents are scheduled to be demolished, the enthusiasm for the sport remains high with hopes that the school board, municipalities and residents can come together to find a solution to replace the courts.
