Jayci Glover's Make-a-Wish
Instead of Senior Night, it was Jayci Glover Night at the last home basketball game of the year on February 12. Prior to the player introductions, the Make-a-Wish Foundation from Salt Lake City presented a check for $7500 to Kanab High School, on Jayci’s behalf, for a new scoreboard in the gym. The foundation representative who made the presentation said most kids wish for a trip somewhere, like Disneyworld, or some other vacation spot. She couldn’t ever remember any recipient doing something like this. But Jayci wanted her wish to go to her hometown school!
All the Cowboys wore “Fight Like Jayci” black T-shirts for their warm-up jerseys, as did the Kanab coaches. Even visiting Delta wore green warm-up T-shirts, in honor of Jayci’s favorite color. The Kanab cheerleaders and the Larriette dancers performing at halftime also donned the Jayci T-shirts.
Usually on Senior Night, all the seniors are introduced. On this night, every member of the basketball team was introduced, not just the starters or the seniors. As they were introduced, each player ran across the court and gave a rose to Jayci, as well as a kiss on her cheek or forehead.
