Kanab hosted its 22nd annual 10K race on May 9. Over 200 people ran what avid runner and 10K organizer Megan Smith calls "the most beautiful 10K in Utah."

The run started at Moqui Cave on Highway 89 five miles north of Kanab.  The race meandered down Highway 89 past red sandstone cliffs, ancient Indian ruins, and Kanab Creek. The race finished up in Kanab''s newly renovated city park.

Mindy Mackay from Kanab commented "running in such a beautiful place made it easier" to run the 6.2 miles.

Aaron Metler of St. George posted the fastest time of 32:19 while Erica Schramm took top honors on the womens'' side with a time of 40:25.

Each winner received a four-day rafting trip on the Colorado River through Cataract Canyon donated by

Utah based Colorado River & Trail Expeditions.
