First annual Little Hollywood Shootout this weekend
Gear up and get ready, there are only a handful of days left before the inaugural first leg of the 2011 “Little Hollywood Shootout” quick turnaround film competition that takes place during the Western Legends Round-up.
The competition takes place August 18-20, commencing at high noon with historic Parry Lodge as the central hub, with filming taking place throughout scenic Kane County. Locations and prop assignments for the film competition will be given to competitors at the beginning of the race, which concludes 49 ½ hours later with a sprint back to the finish line at Parry Lodge.
The debut year of the “Shoot-out” features two competitive divisions appealing to a broad range of filmmakers. The “Targeted Promotion” division has competitors writing, producing and directing a promotional film branding Kane County as a scenic destination, with location options and themes determined at the start of the race.
A number of valuable prizes are up for grabs in the “Targeted” division, including a Sony X1 camera rental package from Lumenous, a lighting rental package from Redman Productions, cash prizes, and special screenings during the upcoming DOCUTAH International Documentary Film Festival in September.
In addition, the overall winning team will turn their film into a commercial for Kane County to be aired on the television show, At Your Leisure.
The “Freestyle Open” Division follows the same guidelines, but is designed for novice and beginning filmmakers of all ages looking to try their hand at the craft. Competitors in this category will vie for a $500 first place cash award and other prizes, while the winning entries will be screened at special events during the DOCUTAH festival, in addition to trophies and bragging rights.
Registration for the “Targeted Promotional” Division is $30, while the entry fee for the “Freestyle Open” Division is just $15.
