Last Saturday morning brought ideal conditions for a run on the Forest Service logging road. As the sun peaked over the red cliffs, the cool, fresh air called to participants of all ages to join in the Annual Fredonia Booster Club Fun Run/Walk.

The 1K seemed to be the most popular event. Emily and Tyler Cutchen, Emily and Sarah Heaton, Norm and Shirley Harris, Kaytlyn, McKenna, Wyatt and Mandy Grover, Jennifer Lukus, Kyra and Tanner Hughes, Monte Hawkins, Nicholas Bartlett, Shirlinda, Erika and Shilton Nez all enjoyed a fun-filled, family 1K.

The competition heated up with the 5k run/walk. Jaydon Heaton of Fredonia took first for the men, crossing the finish line in 21:18. Kelly Hilding of Fredonia crossed first for the women at 22:25.

The 10K brought stellar athletes to the race with Yanni Gallagher of Kanab running the distance in only 38:40, securing first place for the men. Women’s first place winner Michelle Cluff of Fredonia, was not far behind, finishing in a mere 44:31.

The annual Fredonia High School volleyball team vs. football team race was not as well represented as in years past, but was still fun. Jessica Hunt ran the 5K for the volleyball team, but was beaten by football player Clayton Johnson. Afton Ballard was the only brave team member to run the 10K.

The students from Re-Creation Retreat took time out of their busy schedules with school and generous community volunteer service to join in the fun as well!

The Booster Club is greatly appreciated for their efforts to bring the Annual Fun Run/Walk to our community. Thanks to all the volunteers and participants for making the event such a huge success.
