The highly-popular American Cowboy magazine, has issued its top twenty places to live in the west, and Kanab is considered one of the best. What many us knew already about Kanab’s charm, beauty and healthy living, it has also earned national recognition.

American Cowboy unveiled its second annual list of the twenty best places to live in the west it its April/May edition. Written by Kevin Carmody, the selections were based on criteria for what makes a community western; authentic cowboy culture and charm, a healthy respect for history and heritage, abundant recreational, leisure, and outdoor activities, and a strong sense of community coupled with a free-spirited, rugged independence.

“As our cities become even more congested, those with a thirst for the Western way of life can still find that oasis, that utopia, where livestock roads free, the air and water are clean and troubles of suburbia are temporarily put on hold,” wrote American Cowboy of the top twenty.
