Election results unchanged
What was true on the vote count after the June 22 Republican Primary Election did not change once the 49 provisional and absentee ballots were counted on Tuesday, June 29, one week after the election in the county canvas.
Kane County Attorney Jim Scarth hung on to win by eight votes, 709-701, over challenger Deputy Kane County Attorney Willimam Bernard. Scarth was ahead by 17 votes before the 34 provisional and 15 absentee ballots were counted.
“We have a process that’s honest and correct that is used in all 29 counties in the state. All of this is based on state statute,“ said Kane County Clerk Karla Johnson, of the Tuesday canvas.
In the Kane County Treasurer’s race, incumbent Georgia Baca defeated challenger Duane Barnson 836-583.
The Kane County School Board seat was won by Brian Goulding with 174 votes. Dustin Cox tallied 136 and Joshua Jennings had 55.
