Locks of Love
There is evidence every day of someone contributing service to others. Military service, humanitarian projects, service to animals and service to those in need, are constant reminders of volunteer organizations who go the second mile in giving to others.
One volunteer is a bouncy, blue eyed girl from Orderville, who has a great gift to give. First of all, Jordan Hoyt was born with a gift, some can only wish for. Jordan was blessed with the most beautiful thick hair imaginable. As one lady commented, “I have never seen so much hair on a person in my entire life.” Jordan has enough hair for three heads and then some.
Before the hair was “chopped” as Jordon described the project, her hair measured approximately 17 inches from the neckline. After swimming it hung slightly below the hip area. The young bubbly, freckle face blonde made a conscious decision to share her hair with someone.
Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that utilizes human hair for the benefit of others. Many children who have gone through chemo, burns, scalp diseases and other traumatic experiences, have benefitted greatly from the donated hair. Jordan’s entire family and friends have been supportive of her decision to give her hair to someone else.
Her grandmother Layle Johnson of Kanab, was especially proud of her granddaughter Jordy’s decision to make a difference in someone’s life.
The hair had to be at least 10 inches and cut from a braid or a ponytail. She had no qualms about having her hair cut. She has never had a short haircut. It has been trimmed on several occasions. However, Jordon’s hair has never had much length taken from her massive locks. This was truly a gift of love. Some dear child will benefit from the “Locks of Love” Jordan Hoyt has so proudly and willingly donated.
Great job Jordan, you are a shining example for others to follow in your footsteps. So, if anyone wants to share their hair, there is a web site called Locks of Love. Follow the instructions and give your gift to someone. It will be greatly appreciated.
