“Seize the Moment,” a new theatrical event, is happening on Saturday, May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Kanab City Library. The production includes six staged short stories by Bobbi Chaney, and one true-life adventure by Terry Parthemore. The Goodtime Community Theater, the same troupe that brought you “Ms. Communication” and “E.T. Highway,” performs in the show.

“I’m writing short stories lately and want to share them with the community,” said Bobbi Chaney, the creator and director of the Goodtime Community Theater. “The stories have a variety of content and theme, everything from a whimsical piece about a housing tract that mysteriously floats away… to a sketch about a couple of photographers who find inspiration from a polar bear.

The short vignettes include both humorous and serious subjects. The Secret is a comment on the damage that can be inflicted on a young girl by her older sister. Party Animal comes from the riotous point of view of a hyperactive bulldog. Terry Parthemore’s Five Days of Fear is a true-life story about the physical and emotional burdens of being shot down in Vietnam.

“All the pieces will be enhanced with music and visual media. We’re very excited about this show and I hope the community will come out and support us,” siad Chaney.

The Tumbleweedz String Band will provide live music before the show and during intermission. Come early to enjoy the tunes. Free sweets and snacks will be served.

Tickets are available at the library or from any cast member including: Darlene Anderson, Paul and Karen Arndt, Mickie Bolling-Burke, Tom Carter, Bobbi and Sky Chaney, Sandy Katz, Terry Parthemore and Jon Tapia.

The suggested donation is $5. All proceeds benefit the Kanab City Library.
