CEBA to host Idea to Industry workshop
The Center for Education, Business, and the Arts (CEBA) will be hosting an Idea to Industry competition workshop at the Southwest Applied Technology College (SWATC) on Thursday, February 25, at 4 p.m. The workshop will present details and answer questions about the “Idea to Industry” entrepreneur competition that CEBA recently announced in January.
The competition offers prize money for entrepreneurs who submit the best new business idea. Separate competitions are available for adult and youth entrepreneurs, with the winners being announced at the Kane County Economic Development Summit in late April.
The workshop will also feature a special training from renowned business consultant and marketing specialist, Steve Carwell, of Jadestone Consulting. Carwell’s presentation will focus on “Guerilla Marketing,” and the training is offered at no cost to the community through CEBA and the Small Business Development Center.
Carwell’s background includes 15 years in general business and industry consulting with extensive experience in working with real estate and construction firms, as well as several of the world’s largest building materials corporations and literally hundreds of small subcontractors in the construction trades arena.
Carwell spent 10 years in partnership with the Southern Utah Home Builders Association, assisting the organization with strategic planning, leadership, management, and marketing, as well as covering a variety of subjects ranging from “How to Survive an Economic Downturn,” “Managing your Cash Flow,” “Guerilla Marketing” and “Boosting Profitability” to “Effective Selling at a Trade Show.”
Carwell holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and has worked with various state agencies to found the CEO Club, a program designed to groom the senior management skills of company directors, CEO’s and owners. This program is now in its sixth year.
His career history before launching Jadestone Consulting includes working in sales and marketing management for three Fortune 500 companies. He is an experienced CFO of a public company traded on NASDAQ, and later served as CEO of that same public company, managing operations in China, Germany and Italy, as well as the United States.
Jadestone provides training and consulting services to a large number of companies and boasts a client list that includes 22 of the current Fortune 500 list, as well as hundreds of small and mid-size businesses. The business community is encouraged to take advantage of this dynamic training from one of the best presenters in the industry.
