The Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce had a jocular gathering for their last regular membership meeting of 2009 on December 29 at the Shilo Inn.

The meeting played host to a delectable lunch, complete with sandwiches provided by Honey’s Jubilee, quickly followed by a 2009 year-end review and election of 2010 chamber officers.

The year-end review highlighted Chamber accomplishments, memorable meetings, and the new Chamber website. Other discussion items included Western Legends participation, publication of two Chamber brochures, and the continuing success of the Entrepreneur Forum.

The recent Kanab Parade of Lights was especially highlighted at the meeting. It was reported the Chamber-hosted parade was well-attended on a frosty December 3 evening, and served as a fundraiser to help needy families in the Kanab area. Enough proceeds were raised from the parade to provide shoes, clothes and toys for three families. All items were purchased through local Kanab businesses, thus keeping the funds circulating in Kanab and supporting Chamber members.

2010 Chamber officer elections took place at the meeting with Betty Colston retaining the helm as Treasurer, Michelle Day serving as Secretary, Dan Church taking over as Vice President, and Kelly Stowell as President.

The Kanab Chamber hopes everyone had a great holiday season and looks forward to another great year! If you are interested in participating with the Chamber or for more events and other info, contact us at 435-899-0443, info@kanabchamber.com or visit kanabchamber.com.
