Valley High School Update
Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great Christmas and a good time being with your family.
Christmas break is coming to an end. There are only a few more days left, and then the students will be back to studying away. I bet you students are just so thrilled to go back to school, aren’t you? School will resume on January 4.
The girls basketball team traveled to Piute just before Christmas to compete in a region game. It was a good night for the JV team, as they were able to get a victory.
The same result for the varsity was not present, as they did not have a good night against the undefeated T-Birds. It all started in the first quarter where the Buffaloes were outscored 18-3. The sloppy play and poor shooting continued for Valley in the second quarter, as Piute was able to shoot their way to a 36-12 halftime lead.
Again, in the third, Valley struggled on both ends of the floor to allow the T-Birds to grab a huge 53-16 advantage. The Lady Buffs played a little better in the final period, but that didn’t stop Piute from stomping Valley with a 66-28 victory.
The whole night, Valley could not restrain Piute’s Kandice Gleave, who scored 23 points in the victory. Amber Sharkey netted seven points to lead Valley in the loss.
This week the girls have a series of games. The first will take place on December 29-30, where the Buffs will compete in the Cowgirl Classic. They travel to Milford on Saturday, January 2, to compete in region play. Good luck girls!
The boys basketball team also has a couple of games this week. On December 30, they will play rival Kanab at VHS. They also play a region game at VHS on January 2 against Panguitch. Come cheer the team on!
Another heads up for the “black-out game.” This is planned for January 14. For those attending the game, please wear a black shirt so it will look like a black-out. We want this game to be a success, so please help this become possible!
Have a Happy New Year!
