On December 9, the Valley boys basketball team competed against the Millard Eagles at home. It was a good night for the Buffaloes as they won all three games.

The boys played tough in the freshman game. Because of their great effort, they were able to get the victory, 49-39. Colby Spencer had13 points and Colton Spencer put in nine points for Valley. The freshman team, with the win, improved to 2-0.

The JV team also had a good game. It was close at first, but the Buffs pulled it out as they soared to a 51-37 victory over the Eagles. Hayden Harris, Shane Baird and Morgan Hoyt each had 10 points to lead the Buffs to victory. Valley improved to 1-1 in JV.

The varsity game was a fun one to watch. The Buffaloes started out a little stiff and let the Eagles take a 12-9 lead. In the second, Valley sprinted out fast, helping them gain a comfortable lead at the half, 30-20. Valley kept it going during the first part of the third quarter. When the Buffs led at 40-28, the Eagles made a little run of their own, narrowing the lead to 43-37 heading into the fourth.

Millard continued to play well, tying the game with just a little under two minutes to go. It stayed close the rest of the game. With 30 seconds left, Valley held a two-point lead. The Buffs made a much-needed stop on the defensive end and were able to pull out a victory, 59-53.

Lance Maxwell was the high scorer with 20 points. Clay Williams added 15, including two treys, and Paul Kesling had 10.

Over the weekend, the Buffaloes played a couple of games in the 1A Preview in Richfield. The first game was against the Duchesne Eagles. During the first half, Valley kept it close, only trailing by one at the half. Valley came out flat in the second half though, as Duchesne blew it open to defeat the Buffs, 51-37. Lance Maxwell and Clay Williams scored 18 and 10 points in the loss.

The second game was against Rich. The Buffaloes struggled in this one. From start to finish, Valley was not at their best, as Rich stomped the Buffs, 62-35. Lance Maxwell was high scorer with 19 points .

Valley will start region play this week. On Wednesday, December 16, the Buffs will play Escalante at home. Come out and cheer on the team!
