The Kanab Cowboys won their final game of  the regular season over Parowan 20-14 last Wednesday. The Cowboys ended the year in fourth place in the 2-A West Division with a 2-3 region record, 5-4 overall. Enterprise created a three-way tie for first when the Wolves knocked off previously unbeaten South Sevier 26-22 on Thursday. Enterprise, South Sevier and Millard all ended the regular season with 4-1 region records. With the coin flip on Friday, Enterprise is the #1 seed, South Sevier #2 and Millard #3.

Kanab took the lead with 4:40 left in the game when Cody Barber scored on a one yard plunge to break a 14-14 tie. The Cowboys led 14-0 at the half, thanks to two touchdown passes from quarterback Craig Brinkerhoff in the second period. The first score came on a four pass to Kade Quarnberg, and the second was a 25 yard pass to tight end Rhees Jackson. Kanab converted a two point conversion pass between Brinkerhoff and Jackson after the second score to lead 14-0 at the break.

The Cowboys were cruising along with the 14-0 advantage until the last play of the third quarter. A fumble by Kanab gave Parowan the ball. On the first play of the fourth quarter, the Rams’ Josh Fransden covered 26 yards to get Parowan on the scoreboard. The extra point kick made it 14-7. Then with 7:34 left in the game, Parowan’s Zack Wood picked off a Brinkerhoff pass and returned it 25 yards to score and knot the game at 14-14.

On the next possession, mostly behind the running of Brinkerhoff and Barber, the Cowboys drove the length of the field and reached the end zone on Barber’s one yard run. Kanab picked off a desperate Ram reverse option pass and ran out the final 3:32 to get the victory.
