Under the direction of Lannell Allen, Fredonia High School’s combined band and show choir started out quite interestingly for some students. Some students joined just so they could do show choir, but they also had to learn an instrument to stay in the class. While this may be a non-conventional approach, it ended up working well for all involved.

FHS band and show choir traveled to Anaheim, California, on March 14-17, to compete against other schools similar in size from around the country. After performing at Fullerton College and Rose Center Theater in Westminster, Calif., both the FHS band and show choir placed second in their respective competitions and were each given a silver award.

Macy Heaton, who sang a solo at the competition, was singled out and presented with the World Strides Onstage Maestro Award. This elite award is bestowed to a select few students who stand out to the adjudicators during competition.

Congratulations FHS band and show choir and thank you to Lannell Allen for her dedication to the students and music program at FHS.
