A new event this year during the Balloons and Tunes Roundup was a Scavenger Hunt. Danielle Smith (Fredonia) and kids won $1,000 because they got the highest number of points during the two-day event.

“It was really fun! The kids kept waking me up to see if I’d been texted the password yet to begin the game at 4:30 a.m. Friday. They were so excited! We really got into it. It gave us a chance to see things we normally didn’t see,” said Smith.

The family scavenged from balloons to bands; dance performances to zany events and multiple choice quizzes; and QR codes hidden everywhere. They took videos and photos and did a variety of silly-fun activities.

“We didn’t know about the prize when we signed up. We just wanted to have fun. Now, we plan to save the money to go towards a reliable vehicle. Reliable as in – with a heater,” said Smith.
