Fredonia Fun Run/Walk brings the community out for fun and fitness
Participants of the Fredonia Fun Run/Walk couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful morning for their race. The event, held on Saturday, August 22, was an incredible success with runners and walkers of all ages joining in the fun.
The Fredonia Booster Club hosts the annual event on the old logging road south of Fredonia. All fitness levels are included with 1K, 5K and 10K races. Even cyclists were invited to participate this year.
Taft Ballard secured first in the 1K, with Jaxson Grover close behind. Aaron Downward was first for the men in the 5K with time of 18 minute 22 second. Jozalyn Domus was first for the women in the 5k. The 10k race brought in Karl Stone and Jill Armstrong as the 1st place runners, each winning $50 from Houston’s Trails End.
Coordinators Mary Ballard and Serena Cutchen extended special invitations to the Fredonia High School volleyball and football teams. Jozalyn Domus took first for the volleyball team and Logan White for the football team. Each received $25 gift cards from Classic Sports in Hurricane.
The event could not be such a success without the local support and dozens of volunteers.
