Bubbles, rockets, robots, Mars rovers, hurricanes and electricity arrived at Kanab Elementary School on January 14.

Junior engineering, through the Engineering Department at Utah State University brought a hands-on, minds-on program integrating engineering, science and technology involving every classroom and student in the school.

Junior engineering is about changing attitudes toward science and technology.  With the rapid expansion of new technology, it is imperative that the students at Kanab Elementary continue to be exposed to the sciences of tomorrow.

A day of 17 different activities was funded with School Land Trust Funds. Activities included the demonstration of Mars Pathfinders, surface water, Newton's Law, AC/DC electricity and much more.   With these demonstrations, students learned how scientific principles apply in daily life, as well as careers available to them in technology fields.
