Kanab High School senior Katelyn Church was the winner in the Agricultural Science category of the 2018 Sterling Scholar competition held last week at Southern Utah University.

Senior Keisha Williams, also of Kanab High School, was a runner-up in the English category.

The girls competed against students from 19 other schools in southwest Utah. They were judged on personal achievements and awards compiled in their portfolios, as well as interviews with the judges. They were also judged on scholarship, leadership and citizenship.

Many colleges and universities in Utah offer scholarships to the winners and runners-up to help students achieve their educational goals. Some scholarships include cash amounts up to $2500, and some are even full tuition waivers.

Congratulations to Katelyn and Keisha on a job well done!
