Annual Memorial Day Programs to honor veterans, were held in local communities on May 25. The ceremonies were met with bright sunshine, and warm temperatures and hearts, from grateful attendees.

The Kanab program was officiated by Commander Terry Pathemore, and held at the Kanab City Cemetery. As the avenue of flags blew gently in the breeze, Parthemore asked that every American feels due respect to our veterans.

After a stirring medley of patriotic songs performed by Lexi Cox and Courtney Kirby, Kane County Clerk Karla Johnson spoke at the event. She talked of her father''s own military service, and things she had learned in elected office concerning citizen obligation. She encouraged citizens to perform community service, vote, and to choose leaders who don''t always say what we want to hear, but rather what we need to hear. "Hopefully, we''ll never forget our debt to our veterans."
