Wright honored as Utah Narcotics Officer of the Year
Members of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Drug Major Crimes and Drug Task Force recently attended the annual Utah Narcotics Officers Association Conference.
During this year’s conference, Sergeant Jesse “JD” Wright, from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, was awarded the 2017 Utah Narcotics Officer of the Year for Region 5.
The award is named after and honors Robert B. Hutchings, an agent with the Utah Narcotic and Liquor Law Enforcement Bureau, who was shot and killed in 1976 while making entry to execute a narcotic search warrant. Officer Hutchings was the first narcotic agent killed in the line of duty.
Sergeant Wright received the award for his outstanding contribution to narcotics enforcement in Region 5, which includes Millard, Beaver, Iron, Washington and Kane Counties.
In 2016, Sgt. Wright received recognition by the Kane County Attorney’s Office for his cooperation with their office in preparing cases for trial and his diligence and competence in preparing cases and testifying in court.
