Body located near Black Bridge in Grand Canyon National Park
On Wednesday, August 2, search and rescue crews located a body believed to be Sarah Beadle of Fort Worth, Texas. Beadle, who was reported missing on August 1, failed to arrive at Bright Angel Campground, where she had a reservation.
Crews located the body near the Black Bridge at the bottom of Grand Canyon, approximately 3/4 mile from Phantom Ranch.
An investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
Beadle, 38, was hiking down the South Kaibab Trail and her backpack was found near the junction of the South Kaibab Trail and the River Trail. She was hiking with two children, ages 10 and 11, who are safe and accounted for.
Beadle was an experienced backpacker and hiker; she last hiked at the Grand Canyon in 2002.
