If you’ve recently passed by the old Kanab Theater on Center Street, you probably noticed the marquee of the formerly vacant venue now proudly reads “Always Patsy Cline.”

What was once the local home for movies and rollerskating has undergone significant renovations. It will re-open in August, in conjunction with the Western Legends Roundup, as the Redstone Theater – a center for excellent live evening entertainment.

Shawn and Autumn Jacobson, who purchased the theater, have joined forces with Lyndsey and Russell Wulfenstein, to launch the new venture with a professional four-week production of the hit musical, Always Patsy Cline.

Always Patsy Cline tells the true story of the legendary singer (played by Lyndsey Wulfenstein), through the eyes of her admiring and hilarious friend Louise Seger (Mariah Wheeler).

The play features 30 of Cline’s most popular musical selections, accompanied by a sizzling six-piece band. Musicians include Kortney Stirland (keyboard), Russell Wulfenstein (fiddle and acoustic guitar), Josh Baird (electric guitar), Jack Allen (Bass), Jason Zurek (drums), and Daniel Monnett (pedal steel). Together, the ensemble presents an incredible breadth of musical experience with players having performed in over 20 countries and throughout much of the United States. Daniel Monnett famously had the amazing experience of playing with the original man in black, Johnny Cash himself.

This production of Always Patsy Cline is made possible through the generous support of private local donors and the State Bank of Southern Utah.

Shows begin during the week of Western Legends with 2 p.m. matinee performances on Friday and Saturday (August 25 and 26). An additional matinee will be held September 1 at 2 p.m. Evening shows will be held on September 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m.
