Election deadline candidacy window from June 1-7
The window of eligibility to file for numerous city and county public service positions is here! You must file your declaration of candidacy between June 1-7 for the Kanab City and Kane County General Municipal Election to be held November 7, 2017.
Kanab City has the following municipal offices up for the November election – Mayor and two four-year City Council member terms. Incumbents are Mayor Robert Houston, and Kanab City Councilmen Byard Kershaw and Brent Chamberlain.
Interested candidates must fill out a Declaration of Candidacy Form or Nomination Petitions and file them ‘in person’ with the Kanab City Recorder at 26 North 100 East, Kanab, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
All other towns in Kane County also have the Mayor and two council seats open. For positions in other towns, please file in person with the respective community’s town clerk.
There are also several Kane County board positions up for election. There will be four open positions commencing January 2018 for the board of the Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District. Interested candidates must file in person at CMFPD, 3620 Mammoth Creek Road, Duck Creek Village, Utah. Further information can be found at www.cmfpd.com under notice available positions.
The Kane County Human Resources SSD, dba Kane County Hospital, will have three Board of Trustee seats open. The requirements are: you must be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of Utah for at least 30 days immediately before the next election, must be a registered voter in the municipality, have your principal place of residence in Kane County for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election, and are legally eligible to vote.
You can pick up a Declaration of Candidacy in the Human Resources Office, 82 West 300 North, Kanab, or the County Clerk’s Office, 76 N. Main St. You must file your declaration at the Human Resources Office by June 7.
