From Western Legends to Rock Stars
Kane County not only values Western Legends, but rock stars now as well-Tourism Rock Stars that is. As the Office of Tourism continues to advertise and market around the world to bring visitors here, they rely on the front-line staff at local businesses to be hospitable and help add value to the visitors experience so they will stay longer and come back. These are the true rock stars of tourism.
Kane County Office of Tourism Director Camille Johnson is on the Utah Tourism Conference Planning Committee which organizes the annual industry conference for tourism professionals. She got the idea from the committee. The committee will be honoring a “Tourism Rock Star” on the state level at the tourism conference each year beginning this September in Vernal.
“I want to acknowledge and honor the cashiers, servers and all front-line staff in our community for their contribution to tourism and the visitor experience. The role they play in our industry and economy is very important,” Johnson said.
“If you notice an exceptional employee at a local business who is gracious and takes time to answer visitor questions or make recommendations on what to do in our area, we want to hear about it,” Johnson said.
To nominate someone, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and include their name, where they work, and why they’re a Tourism Rock Star. The Office of Tourism will present a special award for the Kane County Tourism Rock Star of the Year at the annual tourism industry gathering in December.
