Snow Canyon High School in St. George hosted the Kanab Cowboy track team at the Canyon View Invitational Meet on March 10 and 11. Eleven schools competed in the two-day event. Kanab was one of four schools at the 2A level; the rest were 3A.

Several Cowboy athletes began the season with efforts that beat either the qualifying times or distances needed to be invited to the BYU Invitational, slated for May 3-6.

BYU Invitational qualifyers

Boys

•Dylan Bistline: 1,600 meters (5:16.38)

•Connor Chamberlain: 100 meters (12.81)

Girls

•Carsyn Button: 100 meters (13.63), 100 meter hurdles (17.41; which was 0.14 off State Qualifying and fourth place overall)

•Bethany Nording: 100 meters (13.85), 200 meters (29.16)

•Macie Shakespear: 200 meters (29.00), 400 meters (1:08.56)

•Brinley Unsworth: Long Jump (13-11.5), High Jump (4-8)

•Madison Brooks: Long Jump (12-7), High Jump (4-2)

•Aliyah Breyton: 100 meters (14.55)

The next meet will be the Kanab Invitational this Saturday, March 18, starting at 9 a.m. “This annual event is one of the highlights of the Kanab track season. Be sure to come and support our Cowboy athletes,” encouraged Lisa Johnson, Kanab Girls Head Track Coach.
