New BYUtv series Extinct being filmed in southern Utah
A launch for a drama series, Extinct, brings a filming crew and cast of stars to southern Utah. Natural sets will be filmed as a part of the new sci-fi series which will be launched in the Spring of 2017.
The 10-episode series, written exclusively for BYUtv by authors Orson Scott Card, who has acclaimed success as a New York Times best selling author, and Aaron Johnston, who is widely-acclaimed as well, will soon be open to audiences.
Extinct follows a colony of revived humans through their struggles with the aliens who extinguished mankind 400 years before. Now humans are wondering why they were brought back. The sci-fi series plays out the drama with the aliens, and their purpose as they fight for their place on the planet.
Actor Chad Michael Collins is cast as the lead character Ezra, and is best known for his work in the feature film, Sniper. He has also appeared in other films and TV shows including: Room 33, Lake Placid 2, CSI:Miami, New Orleans and New York, NCIS, and Two Broke Girls.
Other cast members include: Victoria Atkin (Assassin’s Creed) Jaclyn Hales (Unicorn City), Yorke Fryer (How to Get Away with Murder), Jack Depew (Mad Men, The Fosters), Matthew Bellows (Grimm, Fuller House), and Jake Stormoen (Mythica).
Director Ryan Little is a Canadian born cinematographer who, along with producing partner Adam Abel, has won 16 “Best Picture” awards on the film festival circuit. Abel started his career at Paramount Pictures before founding Go Films in 2002 with Little.
