Accident claims life of Arizona woman
Sharon McCoy, 59, of Kingman, Arizona, perished on Tuesday, January 24, in a two car accident. The wreck occurred on US Highway 89 near the Johnson Canyon Road exit, at milepost 55, at approximately 3:50 p.m.
A Dodge flatbed pickup towing a large dump trailer filled with topsoil slowed and moved into the oncoming lane in preparation to turn left into a local driveway off US 89. As the driver started to turn left, he realized that there was an oncoming vehicle that could not avoid his truck.
The oncoming vehicle, a Hyundai Accent, slammed directly head-on into the Dodge, crushing the left front section of the Hyundai. McCoy, the driver of the Hyundai, was not wearing a seatbelt, and died on impact.
The driver of the Dodge truck also not wearing his seatbelt, sustained only minor injuries.
