Submit a tip to the Kane County Sheriff's Office anonymously
Our ability to solve crimes and create a safer Kane County has a lot to do with citizen involvement. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office has embraced new technologies that open us up to two-way communications anonymously with citizens who have tips or other information that will help us solve crimes and create a safer community.
When you submit a tip through the first two options below, it is sent to a third party tip service acting as a privacy buffer between you and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office to preserve your identity and contact information.
If you have a tip for Kane County Sheriff’s Office, please use any of the three options below to help provide important information on crimes or criminals that will help us to keep Kane County safe for everyone.
Calling and leaving a message will capture the in-calling number unless you dial *67 first.
Option 1: TEXT 847411
Cellular telephone users can text information to 847411. Simply type in KANE, enter a space, then type your tip and hit send. The keyword KANE must be included. When the text message is sent to the Sheriff’s Office, the tipster’s cellular phone number is completely anonymous and is never received by the local Sheriff’s Office.
Option 2: Send Tip Online
You may go to our Facebook page or the Kane County webpage and submit a tip via e-mail. Look for the “submit a tip” link. Use the form to submit your anonymous tip online. After submitting a tip using the web service, you will be assigned a six-digit code with numbers and letters. That is your anonymous ID to log back into the system.
Option 3: Call in a Tip
You may call into a recorded phone line 435-644-4999 and leave your tip. Your number will be captured by the county’s Caller ID, unless you dial *67 first. This is a recorded line, so if you wish to be contacted, please leave your information.
