KHS Hospitality and Tourism course
Exciting things are happening in the Business and Marketing Education Department at Kanab High School this year. Students have a variety of courses available to them, each offering exciting challenges and opportunities.
In Desktop Publishing, students create the annual yearbook. In Computer Tech II, students can earn Microsoft Office certifications through Certiport. Financial Literacy is being run as a concurrent enrollment course through Dixie State University, allowing students to receive university credit upon completion.
Hospitality and Tourism is a new course being taught at Kanab High this year in the Business and Marketing Education department. This course provides students with an understanding of one of the largest industries in Utah and the world.
The Hospitality and Tourism students recently visited the Kane County Office of Tourism. Director Camille Johnson and Assistant Director Danielle Ramsay talked to the class about the economic impact of tourism in Kane County and the many challenges and opportunities that exist in this area.
The students enjoyed hearing about popular tourist attractions and were surprised to hear of a number of exciting and beautiful things they have yet to explore in their own county.
As a class, we are also looking forward to working with the Kane County Office of Tourism on a social media campaign highlighting local life in Kanab.
