Western Legends Roundup weekend is going to be awesome! But, what are you going to do at night? While there are many different venues that will have entertainment all day into the night, the headliners will truly give the weekend a ‘Legends’ feeling!

On Thursday, August 25, True Willie will perform. Heralded as the best Willie Nelson tribute band, singer Roger Hegyi will pay tribute to the life and music of one of he world’s most recognizable musicians – Willie Nelson! Roger looks and sounds so much like Willie Nelson that fans and friends are convinced that they were twins separated at birth.

Australian country singer Roo Arcus, as well as the Rollie Stevens Band, will be opening for True Willie.

On Friday, August 26, Bill Anderson will serve up some country music! As a member of Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame, he’s known as ‘Whispering Bill,’ because of his breathy voice and warm, soft approach to singing a country song. Anderson is one of the most awarded songwriters in the history of country music, a million selling recording artist, TV game show host, network soap opera star, and a consummate onstage performer.

Local entertainer Jimmy Cooper will be opening for Anderson.

Mickey Gilley will round out the featured performers on Saturday, August 27! The Louisiana native of famous cousins Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggart fell in love with and appreciated music early. His own career skyrocketed after many hits, and an Esquire magazine article that resulted in Paramount Pictures filming a movie in 1979. You may have heard of it – Urban Cowboy, starring John Travolta and Debra Winger! The film predominantly featured the world famous Gilley’s Night Club. The movie soundtrack featured many popular artists including a huge hit by Gilley, ‘Stand By Me.’ Another song, ‘Orange Blossom Special,’ performed by Mickey’s Urban Cowboy Band, earned a Grammy Award! Gilley eventually settled in Branson, Missouri, where he performs regularly. He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Gilley’s show is full of stories, music and tender moments. Come and enjoy this great performer’s show!

Local singer Rachel Veater will be opening for Gilley.

All three shows begin at 7 p.m. at the Kanab High School Auditorium, with a Greet & Mingle from 6 to 6:30 p.m. each night.
