Honeymoon Trail from Kanab to House Rock Valley: 8 a.m.

Travel by truck or high clearance vehicles from Kanab to Navajo Wells, up over the Buckskin Mountain, down to Signature Rock and on to House Rock Valley. Highlights of this trip include the new monument at Navajo Wells dedicated in April of this year to the early pioneers who traveled this trail to and from Arizona by horseback and covered wagon; and Signature Rock where many of their names were carved into sandstone cliffs when they stopped overnight for water and rest. The ride will take approximately six to seven hours. Bring your own lunch and drinks. Mel Heaton will be the guide. Meet at Honey’s Marketplace. Departure time is 8 a.m.

Horseback Trail Ride – Kanab Creek: 7:30 a.m.

This is a five to six hour trail ride starting at Four Mile Canyon on Glendale Bench. This is the original trail into Kanab from Glendale for light buggies and horseback. Ride through the Navajo sandstone canyons to the headwaters of Kanab Creek, to Peek-a-boo and on to Diana’s Throne. Bring your own water and snacks. Pre-registration is necessary. We will need to trailer horses to Four Mile Canyon and return the rigs to Diana’s Throne. We will coordinate ferrying the rigs. Pre-registration is necessary, unless you have someone to ferry your trailer back to Diana’s Throne from Four Mile Canyon. Horses must have good shoes.

We will meet at the Peek-A-Boo Trailhead parking lot at 7 a.m. and depart at 7:30 a.m. Horses can be rented for this ride from Mel Heaton. Call Mel at 928-643-7292 to make these arrangements.
