It’s springtime in Kanab and for many residents that means beautifying their homes with the addition of trees, shrubs and flowers to their landscaping.

Another way to make your home more attractive and more livable is by subtraction.  Getting rid of things you don’t want or need anymore can lighten your load and brighten your living quarters.

During the week of April 25-29, Kanab City crews are prepared to help you do just that by coming to your home and picking up discarded items that are too big for the regular trash containers.

You know what this stuff is, so why not avail yourself of this free service and get clear of these unwanted items.

What about the old beater in the back (or front) yard? Unless you are using it as a planter, it may be time to find it a new home. If it’s a sentimental piece of a former life, a photo takes up a lot less space.

Running or not, tires or not, the Kanab Beautification Committee (KBC) has arranged to have these vehicles picked up at your home at no cost to you. Your donation will be valued and can be used as a charitable tax deduction. Any proceeds received by the KBC will go toward the purchase of plants and supplies used in the process of enriching Kanab’s appearance for all to appreciate.

To schedule a trash or vehicle pick-up, call the city at 644-2534 as soon as possible.

Lost your vehicle’s title? No problem. The KBC will help you get a duplicate title through the state and pay the cost of it.

Remember, Arbor Day-Earth Day in Kanab, April 22, and the downtown tree and shrub planting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., at the Best Friends Welcome Center, next to Willow Canyon. Volunteers are needed to accomplish this project.
