Utah-based security company, SafeWise, released its 20 Safest Cities in Utah Report, on December 7, 2015, and Kanab came in number 17. To compile this report, SafeWise analysts considered the most recent FBI crime data from 2013 to rank these cities, which all have a minimum population of 3,000 people. Kanab made the top 20 due to its commitment to the safety and security of its residents.

Kanab City Police Chief Tom Cram would like to credit the Kanab City police officers, Kane County Sheriffs Office, Utah Highway Patrol and the Fredonia Marshal’s Office for all their hard work.

“Also, I would like to give credit to the residents of this community for being vigilant. When something doesn’t look right or feel right, people have been good to call in and report it. Due to all of this effort, we are a pretty safe community. Thanks to everyone for all their help; we couldn’t do what we do without your assistance,” added Chief Cram.
