KHS Cross Country runners get ready for Region
On Wednesday, October 7, under the direction of new head coach Levi LeFevre, KHS had the privilege of hosting a home cross country meet. One hundred and four runners (79 boys and 25 girls), representing six different schools, came to run the scenic three-mile course which started and finished at the Ranchos Park.
Kanab’s Dillon (19:54) and Dustin Bistline (19:55) came in 19 and 20 respectively in the boys competition, while Raymond Briener (22:57) came in 57. Kelly Bistline finished 18 in the girls competition, with a time of 24:06.
The overall winners of the meet both hailed from Millard: Conner Cox won the boys competition with a time of 18:15, while Mariah Josse won the girls competition with a time of 22:06. Millard also captured both the boys and the girls overall team titles.
Kanab head coach Levi LeFevre said the following about his team, “We are a very young team, but have shown great improvements throughout the season and all of the kids have been working really hard. All three Bistlines have positioned themselves well to qualify for state at next week’s region meet.”
Coach LeFevre would like to thank the following for their help with the meet: Bud Randall, Cynthia Hamblin, Karen Kelly, Lisa Johnson, Lisa Church, Chad Castagno, Kevin Orton, Brett Swapp and Austin Hutchings.
A special thanks goes out to Susan Honey, Brent Brinkerhoff and Honey’s Marketplace for helping supply fruit for the athletes at the finish line.
The cross country team’s next meet is the Region Championships, which will be held in Beaver on Tuesday, October 13. Good luck KHS runners!
